REVIEW: THE BBL FOREVER FACIAL

Last week I booked myself in for a Broad Brand Light Facial at the Nova clinic here in Dubai. I normally have the Hydra Facial twice a year, so I was a little reluctant at first when I made the appointment for a facial that is considered quite invasive compared to the hydra facial. As my big 30 is coming up this August, I figured my face needed a quick pick-me-up ahead of the summer. Besides, my dark spots and fine lines were becoming more visible and I wasn’t going to stay 29 forever. My biggest concern was uneven skin town and I was told the BBL facial was the one for me. Sold!

Upon arriving at the clinic, I was told that the procedure would take 15-20 minutes, and that there was no downtime afterwards. The procedure was incredibly painful for me and I have quite high threshold for pain. Light energy is delivered into the skin in bursts that feel like elastic bands being snapped on your face! Immediately following the procedure, she applied a cooling gel and let me rest for 15 minutes under the air conditioning. Remember that time you were 12 years old and stayed in the pool a little too long and ended up with a blistering third degree sunburn and your mum dipped your in aloe vera and you laid in bed like a sick dog? That was the flashback I got as I was laying there scrolling through my instagram feed trying to get my mind off the pain. I was told I should stay out of the sun and wear an SPF 30 at least for the next month.

Fortunately, the pain subsided about 4 hours later, just as they’d informed me it would. The next day I started to notice that my skin was darkening in the places where I had the most damage, and for a week I had brown marks all over my face. So contrary to what they said about downtime, I had very visible brown spots all over my face that I found very difficult to cover.

Broad Band Light energy is also effective in treating moles, skin abnormalities, acne and rosacea. Please speak to your dermatologist for more information on this facial!
